Finally Justice Has Been Served.

Finally recognized for co -creating Batman.

“DC Entertainment and the family of Bill Finger are pleased to announce that they have reached an agreement that recognizes Mr. Finger’s significant contributions to the Batman family of characters. “Bill Finger was instrumental in developing many of the key creative elements that enrich the Batman universe, and we look forward to building on our acknowledgement of his significant role in DC Comics’ history,” stated Diane Nelson, President of DC Entertainment. “As part of our acknowledgement of those contributions,” Nelson continued, “we are pleased to confirm today that Bill Finger will be receiving credit in the Warner Bros. television series Gotham beginning later this season, and in the forthcoming motion picture Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.”

IN THE RUMOR MILL THIS WEEK

For the last few weeks we have heard all kinds of rumors about Man of Steel 2. 
First It’s Dead, Then It’s not dead, Then George Miller is going to shoot it and then it’s dead again.
Comicbookmovies.comput out a story this week in which the Man of Steel sequel will feature Brainiac, trying to get his hands on the codex from Kara Zor-El otherwise known as Supergirl and in trying to do that creates Bizzaro to help him.
  • This was in fact the original pitch for the Man of Steel sequel. Which is weird since it’s not a Superman centralized story and it just sounds like old sequel thinking. Expand the universe not the character. Batman Forever is a good example.
  • In BVS he is again sharing screen time but at least it’s Superman’s character were dealing with and how he is fitting into the world and how he is struggling with how he is perceived. It’s a much stronger concept.
Which is why WB has probably moved ahead which brings us to the #1 web rumor this week
Is Brainiac the Villan for Justice League Part One? 
If they are Smart? YES!!
It’s rumored that a lot of that original pitch for the MOS sequel is now part of Justice League Part 1.
Minus Supergirl it sounds good. Maybe have brainiac help Lex create Bizzaro….We will wait and see.
Bottom Line: 
Man of Steel made 660 M worldwide yet it was still perceived as a failure at WB. expectations put it at making Jurassic World money. Which is why some may say is the reason why Batman was included in what was first seen as a MOS sequel, before it became BVS and a launch into the DCEU.
WB doesn’t want to give Supes his own movie again until the DCEU is set up.
Now, It also may be probable that Superman’s supporting cast will be spread out amongst the other DCEU movies to build up his Character so when the time comes ( and if the DCEU is doing Marvel Studio type business)  that A Man of Steel 2 or Another Superman centralized movie could be a successful possibility.

Speaking of DCEU are you ready for a Buddy Cop movie featuring Booster Gold and Blue Beatle?

  • it would pair 25th century hero celebrity Booster Gold with teenager Jamie Reyes who uses his super suit to fly and other powers.
  • It’s a Live Action movie – Not animated. So more like this, I guess.

Here’s why.
 
  • Problem stems from Legendary Entertainment head Thomas Tull who in not well liked it seems.
  • Legendary Pictures had a deal with Warners striking success most notably with Nolan’s Batman movies and Pac Rim which made 411 million world wide.
  • Legendary’s new 5 year deal with Universal started with clunkers  Blackhat and Seventh Son which were both distributed through Universal. While Legendary opted into two Universal movies Jurassic World and Straight Outta Compton both huge success’s.
  • Universal has invested in 3 Legendary films, Krampus, Warcraft and the Matt Damon sci-fi film Great Wall. The last two Universal is seeing as problematic. Not to mention Universal pulled out of Del Toro’s Crimson Peak all together.
  • So basically, Universal is not taking any money ricks.
  • With Warcraft and Great wall not looking very promising and Pac Rim 2’s budget ( Over 200 million ) Universal is not taking any risks.
Could have been made if Legendary and Warners still had the deal? 
  • Universal Backed out of Kong: Skull Island entirely which led to Tull taking Skull Island and Kong to Warners, which is leading to a crossover with Godzilla.
So you can blame Warcraft and Great wall I guess. Or Universal.
Any way you look at it it’s a damn shame. Pac Rim 2 I really wanted to see.

BEHOLD. The Transformers are getting a ” Shared” Universe.

Last week we talked about Mark Ryan spilling the ” rumored” beans about the new Transformers 5……
Well today the writers room experiment has been disbanded officially and  a loose plan is set.
The TF Writers Room which had
  • Ken Nolan and Linsey Beers  – Black hawk down
  • Robert Kirkman – The Walking Dead’
  • Art Marcum and Matt Holloway – Iron Man
  • Zak Penn – X-men 2 , The Incredible Hulk
  • Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari – Ant -Man
  • Jeff Pinker – Amazing Spider-man 2, Lost
  • Steven DeKnight – Daredevil Showrunner to name a few
They came together,  hatched ideas, and collaborated to flesh out the transformers movie universe and come up with possible spinoffs, sequels and prequels and then they went off and generated treatments.
and the results seem promising.
  • Akiva Goldsman will be writing a script for Transformers 5  based on a blueprint provided to him by the TF Writers Room which had
  • Goldsman will write a script for Transformers 5
  • Then Barrer and Ferrari will penn an animated prequel about cybertron
  • Then Transformers 6 by Jeff Pinker
  • and a yet unnamed film written by Nolan and Beers
Michael Bay is not officially named as director for 5 as he was set to meet with Speilberg on 9-18
Mark Walburg is set to return.
  • They discovered that the TF universe was not as big as they once thought.
(Which is strange because there is a lot to the TF universe)
I guess paramount hopes to make bank by using Marvel Trend of Cinematic universes as have Star Wars, Universal Monsters, The DC movies.
